Can I stream a video in a classroom?
Answer
To show a web-based video, or clip, in a classroom (considered a public place), you must verify or obtain copyright permission.
Check the website's policy, or copyright statement that appears with the video. Many of the videos on YouTube, CBC and Vimeo have specific regulations aside from the restrictions for the website they are hosted on. The information is often found under Terms and Conditions on the site.
Paterson Library Commons has many Streaming Video collections that faculty and students can use in the classroom. To see the various platforms, visit the Paterson Library website and select Streaming Video.
